At last!!! :-)
Yes, I'm lazy. No excuses.
This time a quite well known song for 80's indiepop fans, The Parachute men masterpiece: "Leeds station".
Absolutely stunning song, with a superb orchestal sound and the unforgettable voice of Fiona.
More info here:

One of my faves from late 80s, without a doubt.

Hi my friends!
Here again from the extremely hot Spain (fortunately i will be in Edinburgh in a month!).
Today another b-side and one of the most beautiful indie pop songs ever made.
The Charlottes were formed in 1988 in Cambridgeshire (England). They are well known for their contribution to the Subway label and they also released some records for Cherry red. Their sound was quite noisy, with a shoegazer touch.
http://www.twee.net/bands/charlottes.html
But, in their first 7", the superb "are you happy now?" on Molesworth Records, they included this gem of perfect pop on the b-side.
Indie pop heaven, for sure.
Enjoy this masterpiece

Hi friends, today a very obscure band from Lancaster (England). As far as I know their only 12" is the one that I own (look at http://www.twee.net/bands/k/killdevilhil.html).
Released in 1987 in the Roustabout label, home of the superb Caretaker Race.
The band were: Alex (guitar, voice), Paul (guitar, vocals), Jon (bass) and Phil (drums, vocals).
The EP has 3 fantastic songs, with a lot of energy and jangle sound. They sound a lot like The Wishing stones (another great band).
There's no information in the whole web, the EP is not in the japanese collector list :-)
I cannot understand it, there's a lot of rubbish in those lists and in the web ;-)
And this is a gem, enjoy it!

Hi friends, this week another rare b-side from a band that only recorded one 7" and a 12" in 1985 in a major, Virgin.
You can see their discography here: http://www.twee.net/bands/s/sensiblejers.html
They also recorded one peel session, more info here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/sessions/1980s/1985/Jun09thesensiblejerse/
They were: Simmy Richman (Drums), Stephen Booker(Backing Vocals, Bass), Andrew Cunningham (Guitar, Vocals) and David Clifton (Backing Vocals, Guitar, Organ).
This song was composed by Andrew and is the b-side for their second 7" and 12", "two-way radio"
It's a wonderful song that reminds me the best songs The Bluebells made.
Enjoy it!

Hi friends, today one of those surprises that pop music gives you from time to time.
I never liked the Distant Cousins a lot, first time I heard of them journalists put them into the Madchester scene, but they had never been part of that music and style. They made a kind of blue eyed soul not very interesting in my opinion.
But in their first and best 12" from 1989, "You used to", you can find this perfect piece of guitar pop in the b-side. I still cannot believe it.
They were: Doreen Edwards (vocals), Neil Fitzpatrick (guitars) and Snuff (drums and percussion).
Please, enjoy this "reason-to-hear-all-the-bsides-of-your-record-collection".
Have a nice week.

Hi friends, still shocked by the loss of Grant McLennan, but "life goes on... anyway".
Today another obscure band from the first 90s: The Emotionals. I have an album (Personal pleasure) and a MiniLP (In response) by them, both in Native records.
They were: Emma Vine (vocals), Pete Maher (guitar, vocals), Roz Laney (bass) and Kieron James (drums, vocals). I have no additional information, any help is welcome.
This song is from their MLP "In response" but you can find it also in the Big Muff compilation cassette (http://www.twee.net/misc/release.htm?key=bigmuff1). It's a gem, enjoy it!

On Saturday 6th May 2006, legendary Australian singer-songwriter and member of
The Go-Betweens Grant McLennan died in his sleep at his home in Brisbane.
I'm still shocked, I have no words to say how much I will miss him. He was my voice, my heart and my soul. His songs are part of me, part of everything that matters.
Thanks Grant, it's all I can say.
